Public Consultation - West Lothian Coastal Adaptation Plan
What is the Coastal Change Adaptation Plan?
- A Coastal Change Adaptation Plan (CCAP) is a strategic framework for sustainably managing coastal communities and environments. It outlines policies designed to address the risks of coastal erosion and flooding, while guiding efforts to build resilience and adapt to the long-term impacts of climate change.
Why do you need a Coastal Change Adaptation Plan?
- Coastal communities like West Lothian face growing threats from climate-related events such as sea level rise, flooding and erosion. Without proactive measures to adapt to or mitigate the risks, future interventions will become constrained and costly.
- The Coastal Change Adaptation Plan (CCAP) Guidance, introduced by the Scottish government in 2023, offers a framework for managing coastal risks and reflects current best practices in coastal management Scotland
- West Lothian (CCAP) will help support planners and communities to ensure a resilient coastline in the future.
